Planning the Journey

This course requires collaboration with a group of cohorts to write a research paper of choice within the realm of nursing. In order for this assignment to be accomplished in an effective and timely manner, communication will be essential. Our communication style in a group of four members will rely heavily on communication through group chats, however meeting in person at least every other week will also be beneficial. In regards to accountability, we will create a timeline with weekly tasks that each member of the group must accomplish in order to have the paper completed by the end of the semester. Taking what seems like a big project, dividing it into smaller parts, and further partitioning these parts to group members will allow us to manage our time effectively so that we do not become overwhelmed at any point during this process.

As with any project that requires the input of several different people, there will likely be some degree of conflict, especially if one member is not contributing to the workload. These situations should be handled very delicately. In most cases at this stage in our lives, we are all hoping to accomplish the same goal. Therefore, if a member is not fully participating, there is likely something else going on in his or her life that is interfering with his or her ability to complete the work. Again, communicating with the group member would be important to decipher what the issue is and the best way to correct the problem so that the project can continue to move forward as discussed and agreed upon.

Just as I would be with any other group project, I am hesitant to work with others on this research paper. It can be difficult to communicate with others, especially in instances where there are different professional backgrounds and different writing styles. However, it is these types of projects that I find the most beneficial as I enhance my abilities to communicate effectively and collaborate with others. Working alongside other individuals will certainly allow me to become a better nurse in the future as this is a major aspect of the medical profession. Overall, I look forward to working alongside my peers to further investigate aspects of the nursing profession that we as a group find most interesting.
