COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course examines the intentional connection of concepts explored in nursing coursework and experiential activities. Active inquiry, self-reflection, and engagement in interprofessional educational opportunities foster the ongoing development of clinical reasoning, professional nursing practice, and interprofessional relationships.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
- Explore the application of knowledge from the humanities, interprofessional education, and natural/behavioral sciences in the provision of holistic nursing care.
- Explore concepts of nursing theory in the planning and evaluation of care for clients.
- Recognize the moral, ethical, and legal elements inherent in the formation of professional nursing values.
- Identify the importance of shared knowledge, experience, and resources among health professionals for the provision of safe care.
- Identify elements of reflective practice, appreciative inquiry, and effective communication across the spectrum of health in multiple settings/client populations.
- Identify principles of self-care that represent values inherent in the profession of nursing.
- Recognize the unique contribution of self and other health professionals to the plan of care while respecting client values, priorities, and preferences.
